Paying for Study Abroad

Students participating in TTU Center programs, faculty-led programs, and reciprocal/exchange programs pay program costs through Student Business Services (SBS).  Students participating in affiliated programs pay the program directly.  All students will be billed a non-refundable Study Abroad deposit and/or application fee through Student Business Services.

Texas Tech University has arranged for several different payment options to make paying your student's bill as simple and convenient as possible.  At Student Business Services, you or your student can:

  • Use a credit card or check to pay on the SBS website
  • Pay with a check or money order by mail
  • Use the Payment Option Plan (in fall or spring)
  • Utilize a third party payer such as Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan (formerly Texas Tomorrow Fund)
  • Receive and accept a financial aid award package
  • If funds are not available to make payment at the beginning of the semester, utilize an Emergency Enrollment Loan.

If you will be paying your student's bill, he/she must authorize you to access the account. Student Business Services cannot release any information concerning a student's account to anyone without the student's permission. The Student Business Services website has parent information at the following link: https://ebill.tosm.ttu.edu/tsa/web/login.jsp

Authorized individuals are able to:

  • View the student's current and past online billing statements
  • Download and print billing statements
  • Pay the student's account online with a credit card or an electronic check
  • View payment history for online payments they have made to the student's account

Students receiving financial aid (grants, scholarships, loans, etc.) will have these funds credited directly to their student account at the beginning of each term. Any money owed to the university will be deducted from those funds. If there is a credit balance on the transaction you will receive a refund.

For other financial issues, your student may wish to designate a person to be in charge of his/her financial matters while abroad using a Power of Attorney form. Students may obtain a free Power of Attorney from:
